Student Waste Team Complete Audit
On Friday 1st July our Student Waste Team conducted a waste audit at our school. They collected all the rubbish for 1 day, including paper bins, classroom rubbish, playground rubbish and even what was in the bins in the offices. With help from Sian, our Enviroschools Coordinator, the rubbish was sorted and weighed to work out how much waste our school produces and then consider how we could reduce this waste in the future.
We collected 10.84kg of rubbish in total however once it was all sorted we realised that 8.2kg were materials that could be recycled and diverted from being sent to the landfill. This included recycling paper, card, plastics, metals, glass and food scraps. Now the Waste Team needs to think about what we can all do to reduce school waste and put some of it to good use.

What's your car speed?
The travel wise team went out today to collect the speed data. They used a Speed Gun to record the speed at which cars were travelling in front of our school in the morning. The legal speed limit at this time is 40km/hr. Have a look at the speeds we recorded.

We have entered this video
in the Fonterra Milk competition, and if we win we could get Richie McCaw to

would that be!!!!
